How to extract TikTok captions and save them as text

A practical guide to checking public TikTok caption tracks and converting your own SRT or VTT files.

Updated: 2026-11-01 · BES123

Current audio fallback

If the public caption track cannot be read, BES123 attempts to obtain the public video audio through TikWM and recognizes speech locally in your browser with Whisper. First use downloads a speech model; keep the page open. Maximum 5 minutes and 12 MB. The resolver can be rate limited or unavailable. Speech recognition may make mistakes or generate text during music or silence; review results. There is no translation or OCR.

BES123 can extract text when TikTok exposes a readable caption track on a public video page. A video can display captions in the TikTok app without making that track available to this website. A public link is therefore a starting point, rather than a guarantee of extraction.

Check a public TikTok link

  1. Open the video in TikTok, choose Share and copy its link.
  2. Paste the HTTPS link into the BES123 input and select Extract captions.
  3. If text is returned, review it against the original, then copy it or download a plain text file.

The result preserves the available caption language. Selecting a different website language changes the interface, not the language of the source captions. Automatic captions can contain errors, particularly with names, music or overlapping speech.

What the error messages mean

Convert your own subtitle file

If you already have an SRT, VTT or supported caption JSON file, open the subtitle-file section on the tool page and select it. Files up to 2 MB are parsed in your browser. This file-conversion feature does not send the selected file to the BES123 server. Timing lines and supported formatting tags are removed; the caption text is retained.

To try the file workflow, download the BES123 example VTT file. This short, self-authored example demonstrates the subtitle format. It is not an extraction from a TikTok video or a claim about link-extraction success.

Review and reuse the result

Plain text does not preserve timestamps, speakers or on-screen positioning. Keep the original subtitle file when you need timed subtitles. Only reuse content you are authorized to process, and check quotations against the original video before publishing them.
